Among all women in the world, the Latin woman is known by her natural beauty, sensually spontaneous and captivating that, with few efforts is able to be remarkable forever as well as the vision of a beloved person who even in spirit is unforgettable.


For the purpose of expressing this spirit of enchanting femininity, Antonio Banderas fragrances released in 2004, Spirit for Women following the same path in its essence arising this latinity on skin also conceived in Spirit for Men: the seduction that is intensified by the unique style of the Latin woman, full of personality and being fascinating by her qualities such as spontaneity, sensuality, extroversion and passion. Evoking this woman, Spirit for women is a floral oriental with fruity, floral and woody facets whose foundation is mainly in the notes of red berries, peony and sandalwood. Others notes featuring this composition are plum, orange blossom which with the red berries are top notes, freesia and white iris together to peony in the heart notes and the incense with the sandalwood close the base.


Very aligned to the development of Spirit for Men, the feminine version has a quite alcoholic start and, if it is possible to color this fragrant moment giving to the fragrance more life, this start is light pink as if the red berries had discoloured their original tones with the fresh and bubbling strength of a vodka shot and other of tonic water blended to these fruits in a drink given to drink in the intense South America hot weather. At first, the red berries are set down on the bottom of the glass and only will be tasted when that dose of alcohol be fully drunk. Even so, it is the start of Spirit for Women, the scent of red berries is there, but is not noticeable in its olfactory completeness so immediately.


After this phase, there is an attractive combination in the fragrance that captures the concept of the Latin woman: naturally feminine and romantic. The floral bouquet highlighting the peony note rises the perfume through a scent that is more sensual and full of romance and tenderness. The notes of peony and the reminiscences of red berries are juxtaposed and create an image of white flowers with pink ones, hybrid and coloured flowers that are surrounding this joyful woman becoming her more charming. The pink scent seems to leave the bottle closure also pink like an imaginative spirit seducing delicately the man.


In the base, Spirit for Women is kept as a linear fragrance with the softness of white flowers and sensual woods that give to the fragrance a versatile style wearable during days and evenings in diverse moments in which the Latin woman wishes to express her passion for the life and for herself, with body, soul and spirit.

O início é mais sintético e as notas de saída não apresentam um odor mais característico da bergamota e do néroli o que exige um certo "flerte" com a fragrância antes de julgá-la negativamente, no entanto a evolução proeminente das notas de canela e do âmbar na base levemente amadeirada com um certo dualismo frescor-calor transformam Spirit for Men em um bom perfume oriental para homens cheios de charme e que somente precisam de um toque da fragrância para torná-los ainda mais irresistíveis.

The Spanish actor Antonio Banderas has been absent on the cinema screens, but not from the perfumes market, at least, not from the market segment in which his fragrances are part: the massprestige one, where there are perfume brands that have a mix of prestige quality with affordable prices. His range has 9 regular perfumes including also the recent release Seduction in Black that, soon, is going to be available on the Brazilian shelves.


Antonio Banderas fragrances are part of the Puig Group that, in the prestige division is responsible by famous brands such as Paco Rabanne, Carolina Herrera, Comme des Garçons, Nina Ricci and Prada. In the segment named here as massprestige, the Puig performs in Brazil with brands as Barbie, Antonio Banderas, Antonio Puig and Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and, in a general manner, Antonio Banderas perfumes has a variety of scents and keeps a good relation between cost x benefit, even though their odour quality is lower in comparison to others fragrances made by sophisticated and expensive raw materials.


Spirit for Men and Spirit for Women have as thematic, respectively, the latin man and woman and, together to Blue Seduction For Men, Blue Seduction For Women and Antonio are among the best fragrances of this brand. Spirit for Men is, according to the actor, the celebration of himself, thus the fragrance was composed based in some latin aspects of his roots like the spontaneous and sensual spirit, this provocative charism of seducing all around. To surrender the man with a fragrant and seductive aura, Spirit for Men is a light woody spicy with top notes of bergamot, neroli oil and citrusy leaves, heart notes as orange blossom and cinnamon and base notes as amber, patchouli, myrrh, vanilla and sandalwood.


Spirit for Men is a fragrance that, in a simple analogy, is like to wait what the latin man can offer, mainly because its scent development requires certain fantasy before reaching the most seductive feature of the fragrance. Firstly, looking at the dark red bottle awakes the passionate desire of knowing the Spirit that moves Antonio Banderas. The spicies in a ambery woody base is, unavoidably, tempting and the price is also very attractive to continue being seduced staring the bottle until possessing completely this scent.


When starting to possess it in the olfaction, its start is very alcoholic like a refreshing cocktail where is possible to taste more the alcohol flavor than the fruits flavors. The perceptible note when the bottle is opened, known in the industry as "bottle-note" is more citrusy covered by alcohol that evokes this latin energy and, only disappears in the next three minutes when there are sensual accords of cinnamon which gives the right addictive tone to the fragrance, anticipating later the seduction of the amber and vanilla. In this moment, it is possible to believe that this Spirit by Antonio Banderas deserves some credit and will not disconcert or frustrate the woman in this fragrant sensual game.


The beginning is more synthetical and the top notes don't present their typical odours of bergamot and neroli what demands some "flirtation" with the fragrance before judging it negatively, however during its evolution the proeminent notes of cinnamon and amber in a subtle woody base faded into a certain dualism fresh-warm transform Spirit for Men into a good affordable oriental perfume for men of charm who only need a touch of fragrance to become them more irresistible.

As folhas de patchouli possuem um aroma terroso e medicinal, dando uma leve seriedade às fragrâncias mais expansivas. Neste perfume de Tom Ford, o patchouli é a nota máxima e não a base, como é comum. O patchouli é o próprio acorde base a que as demais notas se renderão.

O que você entenderia por cheiro branco? Nunca tinha pensado na possibilidade de cheiros brancos como fragrâncias sofisticadas. Sempre imaginava algo que faltava nesses perfumes, como um elo que foi quebrado e que não deixava mais o resto das correntes se unirem. Com uma saída simples, composta quase exclusivamente de limão e coriandro, quando White Patchouli toca a pele abre uma refrescância levemente seca pelo coriandro, de modo a deixar o tom cítrico dos limões bem próximo à pele, quase transparente o que ao meu olfato foi muito confortável.


Posteriormente, a imagem começa a tomar cor, saindo do transparente e confortável ácido e seco da mistura de limões e coriandro para o branco imaculado e angelical de um canteiro de jasmim exposto ao sol da primavera. Um bouquet de flores ainda mais brancas começa a ser percebido, com suas pétalas macias e leves, a discreta doçura da peônia também é facilmente percebida. Há ainda no meio desse jardim intensamente branco um tom terroso de patchouli, a nota foi muito bem trabalhada e, por esse motivo, não transformou o perfume em algo áspero, ao contrário, contribui para a beleza dessa fragrância, um aroma despretensioso e claro, basicamente verde e terroso no meio de muitas flores brancas, um equilíbrio perfeito entre o acorde floral e o medicinal tornando essa a mais sofisticada das fases.

No fundo de toda essa brancura semente de ambreta, uma espécie de planta evoca o cheiro de musk, porém menos profundo e animálico, seria por assim dizer um "musk estéril". White Patchouli é realmente um perfume branco, moderno e extremamente minimalista, no qual apenas o que importa permanece sem que haja a interferência de elementos desnecessários ao todo. Leve, sofisticado e discreto, mais uma obra de arte assinada por Tom Ford.

After the in Black saga, Tom Ford releases in the market the opposite of this dark moment, bringing to consumers White Patchouli, an invitation to the beauty and serenity of the white color so full of meanings for diverse cultures all over the planet.

Almost as a negation of everything we have seen in the brand , the white is the contrary image found in Black Orchid, the potent and delicious truffle first fragrance of Tom Ford, which emanates a sweet invasive aura with soft accords of an ilusory black orchid, now is transformed in something clean, soft, angelical and extremely neutral that follows the recent trend of modern floral chypres.


Patchouli leaves own an intense earthy and medicinal scent providing a subtle seriousness for enthusiastic fragrances. In this Tom Ford perfume, patchouli is the utmost note and not a basenote as is more commom. Patchouli is the own base accord to which all other notes are surrendered.


What would you say about a white scent? I have never thought about this possibility of white scents as sophisticated ones. I've always imagined that something lacked in these fragrances, like an connexion which was broken and not let the rest of scented waves be joined. Starting a simple opening composed by almost exclusively lemon and coriander, White Patchouli touches uniquely the skin and opens a slightly dry refresh by coriander in such a manner as let the citrusy tone of lemons closer to the skin, nearly transparent, what was very comfortable to my olfaction.


Later the image starts to color, leaving the transparency and the acid and dry mixture of lemons and coriander to emanate an immaculated and angelical of a jasmine-bed exposed under the spring sun. A bouquet of whiter flowers begins to be perceived with its tender and light petals,the discrete sweetness of the peony also is pleasantly smelt. There is also intensely in this white garden a earthy patchouli tone, the note was very well worked on the perfume and, because of that, doesn't make the fragrance not smooth, on the contrary, it contributes to White Patchouli's beauty, a scent that is clean and not snobbish, basically green and earthy in the middle of many white flowers, a perfect balance between the floral accord and the medicinal one becoming this phase the best of all.


In the base of all this whiteness there are ambrette seeds, a type of plant that evokes the musk scent, but less deep and animalic, that is something as "a sterile musk". White Patchouli is indeed a white, modern and extremely minimalist fragrance in which only what matters is kept without any interference of unnecessary elements. Light, sophisticated and elusive, one more masterpiece by Tom Ford signature.

Perfume Review: Clair de Musc, Serge Lutens

Clair de Musc, Serge Lutens

When we look at a perfume bottle, we don't visualise only its packaging, its format, its details and colors; we look beyond the bottle. We look at its liquid, its tonality, its scent, its texture. After that, we imagine how is its olfactory development on skin, the sensations are able to awake our senses, its virtues and its imperfections and, finally, we think how will be the soul of the fragrance, its mystery, its richness. Clair de Musc, as its name refers makes me think of the transparency of the musk, note that symbolises the soul in this fragrance. As any soul, this olfactory note has the weight of a crystal that reflects its vivacity on skin, as well as the soul that shines and rises from the darkness.


The liquid color is not so transparent, but Clair de Musc's accords are clear and rich in their simplicity. The fragrance has main notes of white musk, powdery musk (also known as pudriger Moschus, in german or Musc Poudré, in French), Bergamot, Neroli, Jasmine, Tuscan Iris, Mysore Santal and ambrette seeds. A variety of notes which enriches the transparent scent in its plenitude; notes that dialog among them and are complemented by each other.


Clair de Musc is delicately powdery by the poudré musk and iris influences. This effect is protagonist in the initial olfactory development, however it is noticeable that this effect is not about any type of powdery scent. It is about a refreshing powdery odour, influenced by the supporting action of the bergamot which does not have the interpretation of the overly citrusy pattern, this odour brings the sensation of the day and its clarity as well as the refined poudré freshness on skin sparkling by the sunshine.

In proportion that the perfume develops, the tenuous powdery undertones are blended to the floral accords. In this moment, more jasmine and less neroli. The subtle jasmine supports the floral base and, in a very interesting way, does not invade the poudré musk block because the jasmine joins the abstract of the fragrance, its heavenly facet. Its flowery accords are there but reacting like the act of cutting a crystal which on it is observed a face and, in other cutting piece is seen the other face.

The neroli, known by its spicy quality, assumes other role in this human ethereal fragrance. Its frustrating role is to bring the fragrance to the earthy base, however the spicy is almost null, only perceptible if the skin is sniffed closer . The beauty of the neroli in Clair de Musc is to reinforce the spiritual character which is its distinguishable feature: an untouchable composition, an angelical beauty that cannot be completely mundane; a beauty that values the white musk and others musky scented raw materials as poudré and the ambrette seeds.

The Creation of Adam

In Clair de Musc there is no space for perfume-body, that is being animalic and provocative as a earthy uniqueness. Here, what is fascinating is the pureness of the perfume soul that places Clair de Musk as something superior, ethereal and luminous. It is like to wear a white chiffon dress, fluid and made by a transparent fabric, close my eyes and imagine myself on white clouds touching the hands of God, the Lord.

Assim como penso que a nota de violeta é uma das mais difíceis de trabalhar entre as notas florais em virtude de seu odor sintético, o mesmo é aplicável à nota de maça entre as frutais. No caso da maça, o cheiro é bastante previsível quando usado como protagonista em uma fragrância e, de fato, há muito poucas boas opções que levam a nota; opções que posso contar com os dedos de uma única mão, entre elas Donna Karan Red Delicious, com uma boa abordagem da maça vermelha com framboesas misturadas a acordes abaunilhados e um coração de rosas e Nina Ricci Nina, um floral frutal fresco radiante com um delicioso sumo de maça de dar água na boca.


Considerando este fato, encontrar o perfume Brandy lançado pela empresa americana Brandy Parfums foi uma experiência incrivelmente satisfatória, oferecendo uma interpretação adorável da maça misturada a notas de ervas e pêssego. Sem comprometer o cheiro de maça, Brandy captura um delicado e genuíno perfume que envolve os sentidos em uma intimidade com a natureza cercada pelo fresco leve ar que beija a face, me fazendo sentir o efeito perfumado não sintético e agradabilíssimo verde frutal que é capaz de trazer a natureza a abraçar o meu corpo, alimentando o meu espírito em um momento de liberdade enquanto eu delineo a minha imagem, cavalgando com um belo cavalo puro sangue ou simplesmente desfrutando este fascinante momento de bem-estar.

O histórico de criação de Brandy é bastante peculiar em comparação às inspirações surgidas na indústria de perfumes: a fragrância foi inspirada por um cavalo palomino chamado Brandy e, em uma atmosfera inovadora capaz de quebrar paradigmas assim como deixar a mente viajar sem limites enquanto o cavalo corre magicamente e rapidamente nas corridas, Brandy foi aclamado por homens e mulheres de todas as idades, principalmente por aqueles que têm uma relação com o negócio eqüestre como corredores e outros experts deste campo em todo o mundo. A fragrância também é amplamente usada pelo público em geral, conforme palava da Patricia Namm, presidente de empresa "Não é somente as pessoas ligadas ao meio eqüestre que são loucas por Brandy. As celebridades também o usam. Os dançarinos Rasta Thomas e Adrienne Canterna são fãs ardentes assim como outros que podem ser vistos em nosso site".

Para aqueles que não têm vivência neste ambiente, absolutamente Brand tem a habilidade de evocar os campos distantes do interior, preenchendo a visão de grandes Haaras, pessoas naturalmente bem sucedidas que apreciam o senso de estar próximos à esta natureza elegante e tem como assinatura olfativa um perfume que não pertuba seus olfatos e muito menos o dos cavalos. Além disso, temperando continuamente a fragrância, a nota de maça pinta a imagem de frescas e apetitosas maças que acabaram de ser tiradas de belíssimas macieiras, alimentando saudavelmente o corpo entre uma cavalgada e outra.

Durante a entrevista de Patricia Namm, presidente de Brandy Parfums para o Perfume da Rosa Negra, ela relatou que teve outras motivações para levar esta inspiração em consideração e estrear na indústria, o que significou um valioso comportamento de uma empreendedora em fragrâncias: "BRANDY tomou forma quando meu marido contou-me que não gostou do perfume que havia me dado, embora tenha sido de uma grande casa de perfumes. Quando eu cheguei em casa com amostras de outros perfumes, ele não se importou com elas. Ele achou-as muito desagradáveis. Então, eu decidi fazer meu próprio perfume. Eu estava ilustrando e escrevendo um livro sobre um bonito palomino chamado BRANDY. Eu tinha reunido várias notas, todas juntas e misturado-as em minha cozinha e eu decidi colocar as notas que agradasse mulheres e homens e cavalos também. É bem sabido que cavalos não gostam de perfumes e os que cavalgam tradicionalmente evitam usar qualquer perfume".


Brandy tem a natural gentileza que vem da própria natureza animal dos cavalos. Acima de tudo, ele é relaxante e linear. Ainda mais ele capta a idéia de que se alguém gosta de cavalos e está próximo(a) ou não a este universo eqüestre, será esperado dele(a) , seja um corredor ou um entusiasta de cavalos que ele(a) se agrade de um cheiro que também agrada a cavalos. As ervas de Brandy louvam a natureza verde ao redor assim como os acordes frutais não evaporam facilmente e tem a tenacidade na pele para manter uma conexão íntima e comfortável entre ambas. Avaliando a estória da fragrância, é impossível não pensar que Brandy une o espírito dos cavalos, da natureza, do homem e da mulher em uma relação adoravelmente adicta em lugares distantes e de abençoada paz.

As well I think that violet note is one of the most difficult flower notes to work with due its synthetical scent, the same is applied to apple note among fruity ones. In the case of apple, its scent is very predictable when used in a main role in fragrance mixture and, there are indeed very few options of fragrances based on a very special scent of apple; options that I can count with the fingers of only one of my hands such as the red apple in Donna Karan Red Delicious, a good fragrant approach of the red apple with raspberries blended to rosey vanilic accords and Nina Ricci Nina, a sparkling fresh floral fruity scent with a delicious mouthwatering apple juicy.


In light of this fact, finding Brandy perfume released by the American company Brandy Parfums was a delightful scent experience, offering an interpretation of an adorable apple note blended to peach and fresh herbaceous notes. Without compromising the scent of apple, Brandy captures a genuine and delicate fragrance that indulges the senses to an intimacy with the nature surrounded by its fresh soft air kissing the face, making me feeling the effect of a pleasant non-synthetical green-fruity scent which is able to bring nature fields embracing my body, feeding my spirit in a freedom moment while I picture the imaginative picture of myself on a horseback or only enjoying this fascinating wellness moment.


The perfume making background of Brandy is very unsual in comparison to the fragrance inspirations found in the industry: the perfume was inspired by a palomino horse called Brandy and, in a breakthrough athmosphere like let the mind travels endless while the horse rides magically and rapidly in races, Brandy was acclaimed by men and women of all ages, mainly those who have a relationship with the equine business as riders and others horse experts all over the world. The fragrance is also hugely wore by general consumer audience, according to Patricia Namm, the company's president:"It's not just horse people who are crazy about Brandy. Celebrities wear it, too. The dancers Rasta Thomas and Adrienne Canterna are ardent Brandy fans as are others on our site."


For those who don't live in this environment, absolutely Brandy is able to evoke distant countryside fields, filling a vision with large Haras, spontaneous successful people who appreciate this sense of being closer to this elegant nature and have as signature fragrance a perfume that doesn't disturb their olfaction and from horses. Besides, tempering continuously the fragrance, the apple note pictures the image of fresh and edible apples that have just taken from gorgeous trees, feeding healthly the body between horseback rides.


During the interview for Perfume da Rosa Negra, the president of Brandy Parfums, Patricia Namm related that she had also her personal motivations to take this inspiration into consideration featuring her début in fragrance industry, what was absolutely a high valuable behavior as a fragrance entrepreneur: "BRANDY came about when my husband told me he didn't like the perfume he had given me, even though it was from a well-known perfume house. When I came home with samples of other perfumes, he didn't care for them either. He found them all too harsh. So, I decided to make my own perfume. At the time, I was illustrating and writing a book about a beautiful palomino named BRANDY. I had gathered together various notes and mixed them in my kitchen, and I decided to put in notes that appeal to women and men, and to horses, too. It's well known that horses don't like perfume and riders traditionally avoid wearing any perfume".


Brandy has the natural gentleness coming from the own animal nature of horses. Above all, it is a relaxing and linear fragrance. Moreover also captures the idea that if someone loves horses being closer or not to this equine universe, it is expected a rider or any horse enthusiast will please wearing a fragrance that horses also enjoy sniffing. Its herbs scent praising the green nature around as well the fruity accord don't evaporate easily and have the tenacity on skin in order to provoke an intimate and comfortable connection. Evaluating the fragrance story, it is impossible not think that Brandy joins the spirit of horses, nature, man and woman in a lovely addictive scented relationship in blessed peaceful faraway places.
